W1: 3/4/2024 - HOME MTC
Home MTC started at 6:30AM because everyone else was on Mountain Standard time. That also meant that it ended at 3:30PM so it left a lot of time after hours his zoom meetings to do various things.
Morning Zoom meetings were Preach My Gospel or gospel learning and afternoon was Spanish Class. Scott preferred Spanish classes. He liked to do "home tours" which he brought people around the home telling them everything in Spanish. It was a great way to get to know your District. Day 1 he was companions with an Elder going to Puerto Montt but on Day 2 they put him into a breakout room and told him he was moving districts to a more advanced speaking Spanish class. His 1st district had zero Spanish experience. He said group chats would go crazy. Anytime anyone said where they were from, missionaries would talk about how that was close to home, their home or had a relative from that area. It was nice that at some larger devotionals you could eat whatever you wanted, like Chipotle.
Day 1 Elder McMillan helped coach a clinic, Day 2 he went to take his senior swim photo and friends came over for Taco Tuesday, Day 3 his Institute teacher and friends came over for lunch and he got picked up by the Elders to go to Young Mens, Day 4 and Day 5 were spent shopping for last minute items we still needed. We even got to go to a Northgate meet which was fun for him to say one last bye to his team. He could basically go anywhere as long as he was with a companion and it was appropriate for a missionary. We went to the temple on Saturday morning which was fun. He was really nervous to go on his own, without someone to help, but it was a good life lesson that everyone was there to help him. By the end of the week, he was ready for zoom to be over and actually be with people in person. Just the right amount of time to get sick of being on zoom.
