W12: Juan

Image
Hello All! This week was a lot of the same ole same ole but it was a little different. We had intercambios again so I got to have another sleepover in Castro but this time I was paired with our righteous District Leader, Elder Neilson, who is also a super cool guy.  He was a runner in high school so we ended up going on a run in the morning for our physical exercise. It was a pretty good run (shoutout to Coach Eric and Delta Limitless for the training)! It awakened the competitive dawg in me a little bit when Elder Nielson wanted to race up a hill.  Funny thing about the Elders in Castro is that they have a dog that follows them around and sleeps under their house. They don't feed it but it has claimed them as their owners even though we are not allowed to have pets. Its name is Juan. We joke that they are a trio and Juan the dog is actually the apostle John because he never died. It's funny that they have a dog that follows them around everywhere.  Other than that ...

W11: Beans, Beans and More Beans

Image
Hi All!  I hope everyone is doing well. Down here in Southern Chile I have discovered beans. Now that I am trying to be a healthy missionary instead of eating chocolate cereal I throw some beans in the microwave with cheese and that's what I eat. Plus they are super cheap and pretty easy to make. Just gotta soak them over night then cook them on low heat for like 2 hours. So beans where the breakthrough discovery this week.  Thanks to my mother I am now living on a great depression type diet. Full of potatoes, beans, oats and the occasional egg. (I will acknowledge this is not what they ate in the depression but I feel like that) Gone are the days of sugar cereal and skipping meals. It's time to start the 2 year mega bulk. It will be the most insane cut in 2026 though...   We had another pretty good week. We where able to teach some good lessons and meet some good people. Plus it didn't rain and it was actually sunny so that was cool. It is starting to get really col...

W10: I can't remember what week it is!

Here we are in Castro on an intercambio with the Elders that live in Castro.  I bought my red glasses at Mall Chino.  Yes, that is what the tienda is called.  Mall China which is like the Dollar Store here. I went around for the day with the Elder on the right and the other two live in the same aparment.  I explain this in the letter.  I can't really remember the weeks because a lot of the days actually feel the same. We almost do the same things everyday just with different people which is sharing of Jesus Christ and his love. But because Spanish is still a barrier all the people kinda just morph into one person and most of the days just feel like one really long Spanish class.  Don't get me wrong.  It is a really fun Spanish class but it just feels like its one really long Spanish class with occasional naps from 11pm to 7am. It takes a lot of thinking to communicate. I had a pretty good week. I was able to go have a little sleep over with Elder Cole ...

W9: Biography's and Friendship Bracelets

Hello everybody. Hope you all are well and had an amazing week!  We had a pretty crazy week this week because we had a zone conference which is where a bunch of missionaries get together to learn and grow in our missionary efforts. That means we had to travel up to Puerto Montt.  We started that journey on Wednesday night. It took 1.5 hours on bus to get to Castro to meet up with other Elders on our island. We ended up playing a bunch of cards and went to bed kinda late.  It was fun until we had to wake up at 5AM, which was actually too late to catch our bus so we sprinted through this city as fast as we could to get to our bus on time.  At 6AM we were running full speed in suits through this city which wasn't fun because it was pouring rain.  We got to the bus on time and I proceeded to take a 3 hour power nap because I am a master of sleeping while traveling now. I can sleep whenever and wherever I need which is...
