W33: Elections
So I'm waiting to get a haircut right now and I'm currently in a barbershop listening to Chilean rap. I don't understand most of it but it is definitely not mission approved music. One song is called "Blankita Como Nieve", so yeah, go look up the lyrics if you have time and you will know what it was like for me today.
This week I had 2 intercambios. One with my Zone Leaders and one with an elder in our District. Our Zone leader, Elder Ramirez, is from Costa Rica and he's super cool. He speaks super good English because he worked for Amazon in customer service before the mission. He's also super tall, considerably taller than me. We probably scared half of the Chileans we tried to talk to. We ended up making lentils to finish the intercambio and they turned out super good.
Then I had another intercambio with Elder Vasquez. He's from Mexico and has 2 transfers less than me in the mission. We ended up buying a choriana to finish the day which was super good. I gave him my spare rain jacket since I don't need two. He was stoked which made me feel good.
Don't know if you guys remember but turns out I actually got the right answer when I ended up helping our friend with her math homework.
Elder McMillan math skills: 1
Chilean highschool math: 0
So maybe I can't speak perfect Spanish but I can at least understand enough to do math. Now whenever I don't know a Spanish term I say it in English with a spanish accent. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
Successfully restrung my guitar so now I'm back on that guitar grind. I used some strings that the guy in the store recommended. It sounds pretty good now. It's a little more brassy but sounds good. If anyone has any song ideas about songs I should learn, send them my way.
They also had elections this week in Chile. But really the only candidates people seem to care more about are Kamala and Trump. Everyone is always really surprised when I tell them a lot of people don't actually vote. In Chile they give you a fine if you don't vote.
