NORTHGATE SWIM SENIOR DAY
3/27/2024
Scott thought he would miss swim the most leaving before his senior year. When I talked to him yesterday he said as much as it would have been cool to try to win an individual event at NCS, he doesn't miss it too much. He said Bailey helped because she said in the the long run it doesn't really matter if you win or not.
It was really awesome that they included him in Senior Night. Diego was there to cheer on Mason and Daniel and we recruited him to be Scott.
His introduction at the meet..
"Introducing Scott McMillan who is escorted tonight by God and his missionary companion. His favorite stroke is anything 50 yards or less. He started swimming in the womb.
His favorite high school swim memories include Taco Tuesdays, counting for Mason, Being State Champ with his boys, sporting amazing mullets, garbage can ice baths, and of course being coached by legendary Coach Jeff Mellinger.
His post High School plans include taking a swimming sabbatical. He is currently relaxing in 85 degree Mexico City with roommates who are trying to teach him Spanish. He is serving a 2 year Mission in Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Upon returning from Chile, Scott plans to attend BYU, major in chemistry (shout out to Mr. Taylor) and would like his college coaches to know he would love to be a sprinter and not a 200 freestyler.
He would like to thank legendary Coach Jeff Mellinger, Aquabear Coaches Mike, Todd, Rick, Russ and Jenny who put up with him and took him from 20th at County to State Champ, his amazing parents and siblings and lastly his friends who made it possible for him to make an appearance tonight and are the reason why he loves to swim!"
He had a lot of fun and great memories were made during NG swim. So grateful for Jeff, his teammates from Northgate, Aquabears and other teams and most importantly his Aquabear Coaches who helped him learn all the amazing lessons that sports teach.
Senior Pics were during home MTC. Kathie Olesen was his companion and took him to Northgate for the photo. It turned out amazing!
