W39: Christmas Zone Conference
So this week was a little chaotic. I feel like I say that for a lot but this week was actually a week full of sidequests.
We had a Multi-Zone Conference planned for Friday. So we spent time working with a companionship of Hermanas to make a presentation for our zone at Zone Conference. But it was also a special Christmas conference so we had to prepare a Christmas skit to do with our zone that we were going to perform at the end of the conference. Anddd we got a text from the Hermanas that we were going to direct the conference and that they wanted the Elders in our zone to do a special musical number... So we just start plugging away, getting our work done and letting the Elders know that we are going to sing Silent Night which they were not excited to sing!
Then on Thursday, the day before the conference, we got a call from the Zone Leaders in Valdivia who were supposed to host the conference and they said that there was a dead body in their chapel so we were going to have to move the conference to our chapel. Turns out some old member in their stake died and they were having a funeral but for some reason they decided to leave the body in the church. So missionary's showed up to the church just to see the body there. Not sure the morgue works the same down here. Pretty wild.
Me and Elder Benson went to our chapel to go set things up. All things considered everything went pretty smoothly.
Then the next day we had our zone conference. It was pretty fun and I was able to get some pretty cool pictures and see some friends from other areas. As I was running out the door (the APs were waiting outside to drive us), I thought that I might as well bring an extra camera battery in case mine is dead. So I threw another battery into my backpack and when I took my camera out, sure enough the battery was dead. So I put in the new battery, fire up the flash, then proceed to take like 70 photos. We survived our musical number.
Speaking of cameras...using a flash indoors is really underappreciated. We had stake seminary graduation yesterday that I got to play the piano for and someone was there taking photos and they were not using a flash. I could here the shutter go and I could tell it was open for too long. So when in doubt, use a flash.
Other than that, not much happened this week. Working hard to share the gospel, still doing the same ole same ole, playing guitar, drinking Mate. I did discover some doTERRA essential oils in the house. Apparently people on Facebook say they cure cancer. So sometimes right before I go to bed I use some Lavender. Don't really know if it works but I'm hoping that maybe if I get a head start, it might kill the cancer cells in my body that might be left over from the nuclear radiation that might or might not be present in my sector. We had an earthquake down here but I slept through it.
So my spiritual thought in honor of our Zone is that it doesn't really matter if you are the best or even good at something, but just go out and do it. A quote for the Christmas season "As our Heavenly Father so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, we express our love toward one another and toward God and His precious Son by giving of ourselves." I was proud of our Zone even though we aren't the most musical zone. They gave it their all and are working hard.
Love you all.
