W53: Holtzapfel

I'm entering what is probably going to be the last week in my small but mighty sector. I've been here for 4.5 months and it's pretty much time to go. We worked hard and saw the Lord's hand in some milagros. Tried to get things going a bit and learned a lot. The grandson of our recent convert wants to get baptized but his mom ended up saying no sp that kind of sucked but we understand and going to figure it out. This week we are just going to do random acts of kindness for the Zone. I'm trying to be a kinder person so hopefully I can learn to be a nicer person. We also had the birthday of our recent convert. He just turned 16. Hes from the Dominican Republic. His family is pretty cool. They are the ones who own the bakery and are always giving us bread and cakes and stuff. Im convinced I've gained at least a couple of pounds just from their bakery. I did buy a speaker today. I realized I'm really losing out on listening to stuff when I'm in the shower. So I went out and bought this JBL speaker. I have been thinking about buying one for like 8 months but now was finally the time so that was a highlight of the week. Pre mission I listened to my swimswam podcasts. I'll be trading in that to listen to general conference talks. I'm going to listen to talks each day on the Atonement since our mission president wants us to focus our study on the Atonement. I figure I have 365 talks I can listen to while I get ready. Because I'm probably leaving next week I only spent like $3 on food, so I think I'll just clean out the pantry with what I already have. Lowkey cambios are going to be a little wild. I have no idea where I'm going to go. We'll just have to wait and see. Love you all! Elder McMillan

Hellooooooo  OK what's going on you guys....I'm back with another email. This was my first full week in the field and it has been a ot of walking around trying to find people to talk to.  We didn't really know a lot of people in the area since we were both new. The only way to try and get to know them was to walk to their houses and try and get to know them. And because I live in a place that rains all the time, that means walking in the rain a lot!  Like it rains everyday. So a lot of my days are spent walking around in the rain trying to find people to teach about Jesus.  The rain would be worse but I wear a waterproof coat every time I leave the house with at least 3 layers, my waterproof boots and waterproof backpack.  We don't use an umbrella and usually stay pretty dry. My pocket size scriptures sometimes get wet when I take them out of my pocket so I dry them when I get home. If anything the extra layers just make me look a lot more buff so I'm hoping I w...

W10: I can't remember what week it is!

Here we are in Castro on an intercambio with the Elders that live in Castro.  I bought my red glasses at Mall Chino.  Yes, that is what the tienda is called.  Mall China which is like the Dollar Store here. I went around for the day with the Elder on the right and the other two live in the same aparment.  I explain this in the letter.  I can't really remember the weeks because a lot of the days actually feel the same. We almost do the same things everyday just with different people which is sharing of Jesus Christ and his love. But because Spanish is still a barrier all the people kinda just morph into one person and most of the days just feel like one really long Spanish class.  Don't get me wrong.  It is a really fun Spanish class but it just feels like its one really long Spanish class with occasional naps from 11pm to 7am. W29: Chilean Independence Day y Dar Jugo

September 23, 2024 This week we did both the most work and the least work. Since it was Chilean Independence Day on Wednesday, a member invited us to their parent's house. While we normally would say no as we are on the mission grind, we gladly accepted since hanging out with missionaries wasn't a top priority for most Chileans on Independence Day.  They mentioned their parents lived way out in the campo (country) so we were like, "cool lets go!" When you live in Entre Lagos you are an hour from anything (argentina in one direction or missionaries in the other) and so when you say you are going to the campo, you are legit going to the middle of nowhere. To get there we went on the highway for a good 15 min, then a dirt road (ok still cool), then back to pavement for 2 minutes, then 10 minutes on a gravel 2 way road before going back to dirt for 5 min.
