W59: Another one

Image
W59: Another one Welp its been another week and you know what that means...another flight to Puerto Montt. I've been in my sector for 5 weeks and I've taken 8 flights so far. Pretty crazy mission statistic is that I've been on the mission like 14 months and I've taken 15 flights. That's definitely not something I was ready for. But it's fine because flying is as easy as taking a taxi in the States. Chilean TSA kinda just goes on the honor system. Like they just ask you if you have any of the stuff and you just say "no" then they just put it through a xray and you through a metal detector and it's all good. But yeah went to Pto. Montt again because we had consejo de lideres. We all just got together to talk about the missions needs. It was good. Our mission president started crying at the end. It was kinda sad. He goes home in one more cambio so it's going to be weird seeing the changes. But it's always fun to see all the guys from the mis...

W58: EAST SUNDAY = GETTING COLD!!

Image
So this week it's actually getting pretty cold. I'm back to sleeping in a lined double layer sleeping bag just trying to stay warm. But all is good in the mountains of Coyhaique. I actually bought a Patagonia Sweatshirt in the Patagonia store so I guess that's pretty sweet. It was a good week. We ended up having 3 friends show up to Church which is the most that this sector has seen in a while. It was great. I'm playing the piano way more in church. But my sight reading is actually getting a lot better. Most of the time I don't have a ton of time to practice the song and they don't really give me a ton of notice. So I think my piano playing skills are actually improving. Speaking of Easter it was an awesome week to focus on Christ and just feel the love that he has for us. I read this scripture in Doctrine and Covenants...Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both bo...

W57: 3 Day Old Mistake

Image
We went to Pto Montt again last week, but this time we went with the whole Zone. It was actually kinda crazy because my comp was on a standby ticket, so he didn't actually have a seat and almost got left in the sector which would have been bad because then I would have had to get off the flight in order to stay with him. But it all worked out because God takes care of his missionaries on flights and he ended up getting a seat. We stayed with some of my favorite Elders in Pto. Montt pretty much hashing over what we were going to teach for Zone Conference. Overall a pretty W experience. One of the missionary's just got back from Santiago for Visa stuff and he brought back tacobell. It was like the holy grail. Before you judge, remember I have not had Taco Bell in like over a year and so when he offered me a beefy 5 layer burrito my brain might not have been fully functioning and I was all for it. It was one of the biggest mistakes of my mission thus far. It was 3 day old taco b...

W56: Patagonia or Puerto Montt?

Image
Finished another week in the coolest mission sector in the world. Only problem is sadly I had very little time to actually work in my sector. This week we went to Pto. Montt in order to go to consejo de Lideres. Normally its not that big of a deal and you take a bus and only lose a day. But in Coyhaique it is a big deal. It involves taking a flight, some taxis and then staying the night with some Elders, going to the meeting, staying another night in Puerto Montt before catching a plane back to the sector. So really you end up losing like 48 hours. But consejo de lideres was lit as always. We talked about ways to increase morale. Sometimes we think it is going and doing fun things together, which helps, but I think the real thing that lifts morale is working with purpose. When you are all working together with a common goal, morale will increase and a desire to work hard will increase. I think this is true in a lot of aspects of our lives. I actually decided to break out the trus...

W55: Coyhaique

Image
Yeah so im in my new sector but today I'm actually going back to Pto. Montt for consejo de líderes tomorrow. Because we are so far away we have to fly. So I'm going to be flying 6 times in the span of 3 weeks. I was lowley thinking about how stressful it used to be to fly but now it's just easy dubs. Plus I can do it in Spanish so new skill unlocked which before would have been extreme difficult mode. But God totally looks out for missionarys on flights. Especially missionarys that have to fly on P-day which is usually our day of rest and relaxation. I am sitting here writing from the emergency isle seats. I have so much leg room right now. Defintely the best seat in the whole plane with extra opportunity to serve if we have a crash landing. It's pretty great. You wonder what Coyhaique is like and the airport gives you a good look into my town. The little airport is interesting. It's like a mix of tourists and randos from the town. Like everybody is decked out in...
