W55: Coyhaique
Yeah so im in my new sector but today I'm actually going back to Pto. Montt for consejo de líderes tomorrow. Because we are so far away we have to fly. So I'm going to be flying 6 times in the span of 3 weeks. I was lowley thinking about how stressful it used to be to fly but now it's just easy dubs. Plus I can do it in Spanish so new skill unlocked which before would have been extreme difficult mode.
But God totally looks out for missionarys on flights. Especially missionarys that have to fly on P-day which is usually our day of rest and relaxation. I am sitting here writing from the emergency isle seats. I have so much leg room right now. Defintely the best seat in the whole plane with extra opportunity to serve if we have a crash landing. It's pretty great.
You wonder what Coyhaique is like and the airport gives you a good look into my town. The little airport is interesting. It's like a mix of tourists and randos from the town. Like everybody is decked out in Patagonia gear and tourists give big hiker hippie vibes. Its the place to come if hiking Patagonia is on your bucket list.
I'm serving in the heart of the patagonia. It's right smack in the middle of some mountains. It's really pretty and just pretty sureal. The Zone is just a district. It's just 10 other Elders and there are no sisters. It's a vibe. Also the sector is huge so that's pretty nice. Its about 3-4 times the size of my other sector.
Since we are far south and in the moutains, it is getting cold here. Like 40s ma o menos right now which isn't too bad, but I've heard that in the winter it might drop into the negatives. It'll probably snow in the next couple of weeks. Might be time to break out the thermals again, increase my supply of mate and carbo load the pounds.
Life is good. I'll send some pictures. Men's NCAAs went crazy so now there are 3 people to go sub 40 in the 100 free. Wild stuff.
Hope all are doing well. This weekend is General Conference which is going to be lit. Instead of going to Church, people can watch it from home. If you want to know why I am out here walking from home to home in Patagonia tune in to the words of our Prophets.
My mom's mission president spoke in the last General Conference and talked about his experience as a missionary in Chile which hopefully is nothing like mine.
