W56: Patagonia or Puerto Montt?
Finished another week in the coolest mission sector in the world. Only problem is sadly I had very little time to actually work in my sector. This week we went to Pto. Montt in order to go to consejo de Lideres. Normally its not that big of a deal and you take a bus and only lose a day. But in Coyhaique it is a big deal. It involves taking a flight, some taxis and then staying the night with some Elders, going to the meeting, staying another night in Puerto Montt before catching a plane back to the sector. So really you end up losing like 48 hours.
But consejo de lideres was lit as always. We talked about ways to increase morale. Sometimes we think it is going and doing fun things together, which helps, but I think the real thing that lifts morale is working with purpose. When you are all working together with a common goal, morale will increase and a desire to work hard will increase. I think this is true in a lot of aspects of our lives.
I actually decided to break out the trusty 5d this time and we ended up with some ballerrr fotos. Got some with the OGs. Ended up getting a Hozafeller pic that turned out pretty good. The Hozafellers are the group of missionarys that survived probably the most interesting and perhaps difficult sector in the mission (Hotzaphel) where I was last cambio. Its just a super small sector and is kinda infamous in the mission.
Tomorrow we are flying back to Pto. Montt for our zone conference. Then my comp is going to Argentina, so I'll be hanging out with the other missionaries in my Zone. At least I will get to know our zone better. Then we have a baptism on Saturday. So this week the missionary work might fall a lot on God's shoulders. We'll see what happens though.
Ok so in Coyhaique there are a bunch of tourists so today I pull up to the patagonia store to try and find a sidebag I've been thinkin about for a hot sec. Turns out they dont have it. So the Patagonia store in Patagonia was a total let down. I think they just use the name but the real stores aren't here.
I hope you got to watch some of general conference. There were a lot of good messages. We watched it in Spanish which was good. I will study them in English again.
I thought a lot about Elder Strong who accidently hit and killed a kid who jumped in front of his car on his mission. I can't imagine how hard that was. While he was in jail that night his companion asked to spend the night with him which brought him a little comfort during what was probably the worst time in his life. He recalled that this was what Christ would have done. We all have our own trials, yet when we comfort each other, they can be made a little lighter.
There were so many invitations to follow Christ and find peace through Him. I know we can all have joy through Him, no matter what we are going through. If you didn't get to listen to the talks, you should. There are some really good messages.
I'm going to try and take some fotos of the mountains that surround my house. They are really cool. I just havent gotten around to it so something to look forward to next week hopefully. Hey love you all and hope you have a great week and enjoy Easter and the message of hope that it brings.
