W83: Persevere
Well this last week was one to remember. On Tuesday we had interviews with President Mackay. We had to stay in the church all day because we were the ones who had the keys to the chapel which is a bummer because we didn't really get that much missionary work done.
But then on Wednesday we had everything fall through so we pretty much just walked around trying to talk with as many people as possible. We ended up finding these 17 year olds from Haiti. They didnt speak any spanish so we actually talked to them a lot in English and tried to talk to them in French. They are actually super awesome and 2 of them came to church with us on Sunday. One of them even wore his white shirt. We met with them on Thursday and called Elder Cresaps older brother who helped us out with the lesson. He served his mission in France so he taught them in French and they actually learned a ton. We are going to try and help them learn more but there is a pretty big language barrier.
We participated in the ward talent show. Some of the members did a whole musical number and we just joined in with them. We had wigs and everything. It was pretty chaotic because also our Haitian friends that dont speak any Spanish came so we where just trying to stay afloat the whole time being with them, helping them feel included and translating a bit.
On Friday the APs came to do intercambios with us. It was a pretty fun time. We were able to talk a lot about what we can do better as missionaries and also how we can try to motivate and lift everybody around us. The actual intercambio was a lot of just running around trying to talk to everyone. It was also a pretty nice day out so I got to wear my bucket hat #noskincancer
Here are some pics. Hope everyone has a great week!
