W91: Puerta Natales
Last week I got transfered to what's going to be my last sector in the Mision Chile Puerto Montt. I asked my mission president to come here which is really far from everything and he's the man and hooked me up. I'm training a new missionary down in a really isolated town. It's a decent size city but because of all the tourism actually has its own airport so you can come visit me on your way to hike Patagonia or Antarctica.
Its called Puerto Natales and it is pretty similar to Coyhaique except you're next to the ocean instead of the mountains. I'm a 2 hour flight from the mission home and about a 3.5 hour bus ride from the closest missionaries. So I'm pretty much on my own out here with my comp. We might have to go to Punta Arenas on P-day to not get lonely. I was actually getting used to being around missionaries and making friends in the mission. It's a pretty big sector for only 1 companionship and the people here seem pretty nice. It's pretty cold but not too bad.
Me and my new companion Elder Hickson arrived on Thursday. He's brand new in the field. He's from Texas and loves riding dirtbikes. He's awesome and willing to do anything and everything. I'm trying to get him hooked on mate but we'll see how it goes.
It was a little weird when I arrived because I was also new to the sector with not much going on but we made some pretty cool friends. We're getting it figured out. We had some friends in church and getting things organized. It's going to be a pretty good 2 cambios.
The apartment doesn't have a washer and drynobody was there. That's just kind of how Chile operates. The gym an olympic barbell with plently of weight, a good pull up bar and a couple of free weights.
Its like the perfect place for me to finish the mission. Time on the mission is just kinda slipping away. I hit 21 months last week. I cant tell if time is getting faster or slower. I think it just depends more on the day tbh.
God is good. He has an awesome plan for us to be happy.
Love E. McMillan
