W79: Retuning to My Running Roots

Image
Last week we had chilean independence day which is always a little interesting as far as missionary work is concerned. It would be the same as trying to talk to people on the 4th of July. It just doesn't work super well. But we just went to a members house and they made us a huge bbq so it turned out great. The same member also gave me a turbocharger. Its like half the size of the one I have on my car but its still cool to just store on my desk. I do need to buy some de-greaser so I can clean it up a little bit. I went on an intercambio with the class of 2025s top cross country recruit out of highschool. Apparently he runs a 4:01 mile. So the guy is no joke. Someone sent me an article that he was coming to the mission but I hoped I could have been with him in like 6 months when I'm finishing vs right now. That would have given him 6 months to like not be in top shape and maybe run a 4:20 or something. But we ended up going on a run and man it was the hardest I have worked-ou...

W78: Osorno

I got sent back to Osorno but its a little bit different now because when I was in Osorno a year ago I was in a little town an hour outside the city with nobody around and now I'm in the city city. We work in the most humble part though and we are just seeing a ton of miracles. We love going to a part called the "Toma". Pretty much its a place where you can just go and build your house for free. So theres a lot of really humble people who want to talk about God. The apartment we have is super nice. Its a little cramped right now becasue it is meant for 2 elders but they are looking for another house in Osorno for the other elders that are squatting with us. We're hoping its just temporary but compared to how a lot of people live we have nothing to complain about. The best part about the apartment is that it has a gym so it might be time to start that comeback grind. It doesn't have a ton of weights but its better than nothing. The first day we almost lost t...

Soooooo yeah im gone no more coyhaique After 6 months in the best sector in the mission its finally time for me to leave. We had the cambio call and im going to Osorno to be comps with my first companion E. Cresap!! Its crazy because we were comps in the online ccm for like a day. But then I got put into another district. Its going to be hype. The only bummer is I don't have any lunch in my new sector so if somebody wants to buy me lunch I will love you forever. I'll write a longer email next week. - Elder McMillan

W76: Sidequest

This last week was a little bit different. We had pretty much 0 time in the sector but people just seemed to fall from the sky to teach. We started the week in Pto. Montt for leadership conference which is always a good time but the traveling is tiring and I always get a little motion sickness so today I am trying to take motion sickness pills. We stayed there until Wednesday and then on Wednesday some of the office elders flew back with us to Coyhaique since they had some business they needed to do there. Then on Friday, the office elders went with us on a total sidequest with 2 members to Puerto Aysen. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The members drove us about 2.5 hours to a little town that our mission is thinking about putting missionaries in. We had lunch, tried to meet with some members who couldn't or didn't want to meet with us and then we drove back to Coyhaique. It was really pretty, but like 6 hours of driving. The town is super small so it will be interesti...
